Dhaka, June 21 -- Disney and Pixar's "Toy Story 5" has topped Friday's box office charts, earning $71 million from 4,425 North American theatres.

Forecasters expect it to rack up $150-175 million through the weekend.

That would beat the franchise's previous best opening, set by "Toy Story 4", which took in $120 million, Variety reports.

The film reportedly has a $250 million production budget, in addition to marketing costs.

"Toy Story 5" sees Buzz, Woody, and Jessie battle an edutainment tablet named Lilypad, which threatens their playtime with Bonnie.

Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, and Joan Cusack return, joined by newcomers Greta Lee, Keanu Reeves, and Bad Bunny, among others.
