Bangladesh, July 17 -- National Citizen Party (NCP) Convenor Nahid Islam has urged the administration to arrest those responsible for the attack on their rally in Gopalganj, calling the district a stronghold of "fascists".

He accused pro-Awami League groups of launching the assault.

"Our peaceful pre-announced rally came under attack from Awami [League] terrorists," Nahid said. "These fascists have turned Gopalganj into their shelter.

"We will free the people of this district from 'Mujibism'."

He was addressing a street rally at Janata Bank intersection in Faridpur town on Thursday afternoon.

Calling for justice, the NCP leader urged the authorities not to harass any ordinary citizen in the name of investigation.
