United Kingdom, Dec. 30 -- Drone users in the UK are set to face a new theory test from January 1.

Brits intending to fly drones or model aircraft weighing 100g or more outside must complete a Civil Aviation Authority (CCA) online theory test.

CAA spokesperson Jonathan Nicholson is determined to ensure that new drone owners are aware of the qualifications they need in order to fly a drone.

He said: "With the new drone rules coming into force this week, all drone users must register, get a Flyer ID and follow the regulations.

"We want people to enjoy their drones but it's vital that they have checked the new rules and know how and where to operate their drone safely before they fly."
