United Kingdom, Oct. 29 -- Apple is reportedly planning to simplify the Camera Control button for its next-generation iPhone 18 lineup.

According to Chinese leaker Instant Digital on Weibo, Apple plans to drop the capacitive touch layer currently found on the iPhone 17's Camera Control button and rely solely on pressure-sensing technology instead.

The iPhone 16 and 17 lineup uses a combination of capacitive and force sensors beneath a sapphire crystal surface.

This allows users to control the camera with light taps, swipes, or varying levels of pressure - offering DSLR-like precision.
