United Kingdom, Sept. 21 -- Taylor Swift is set to receive the inaugural Artist Director Honours at the MTV Video Music Awards.

The 36-year-old pop megastar, who has the most awards in VMA history with 30 thus far, has directed all her recent music videos, and has won Best Director four times at the annual ceremony.

The news was announced on Monday (21.09.26) by CBS and MTV, who said the new award pays tribute to artists "whose work behind the camera has expanded the possibilities of music video and advanced the art of visual storytelling".

The prize also "celebrates a sustained and influential body of work from artists who have pushed creative boundaries and developed a clear directorial voice".
