United Kingdom, July 30 -- Sir Elton John is grateful for "every single day" after celebrating 36 years of sobriety.

The Rocket Man hitmaker battled addiction amid the height of his fame but he's now gone more than three decades without consuming alcohol and is thankful for the impact that has had on his life.

Sharing a photo on Instagram in which he smiled as he sat outside holding a glass of his own Elton John Zero Blanc de Blancs, he wrote: "36 years sober today. Raising a 0% glass to life. Grateful for every single day."

Elton shared the same post on his Instagram Story, accompanied by the sound of his 1983 hit single I'm Still Standing.
