United Kingdom, July 22 -- Sir Christopher Nolan banned Ugg boots on the set of The Odyssey.

The 55-year-old director has developed a list of set rules during the course of his career, and he's now explained why he bans movie stars from wearing Ugg boots on set.

Chris - who worked with the likes of Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, Samantha Morton, Zendaya, and Charlize Theron on The Odyssey - told CBS Mornings: "I want to stay in the moment. I want the actors to stay in the moment.

"For me, the Ugg boots are a signifier of modernity, absurd though that is."

Despite this, Nolan insists he doesn't have an issue with Ugg boots off set.
