United Kingdom, July 17 -- Seth Rogen couldn't stop saying "thank you" to Penelope Cruz when they were shooting sex scenes.

The 44-year-old star had to film some intimate moments with the Hollywood icon for their new motion picture The Invite, but director Olivia Wilde was bemused as to why he kept thanking the 52-year-old star during improvised scenes.

Speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Seth - who has been married to fellow actor Lauren Miller since 2011 - said: "What's actually funny in the scene is we were encouraged to improvise.

"There's a scene where me and her are having a romantically-charged moment and it seems like we might hook up with one another, and I just kept saying 'Thank you.'
