United Kingdom, Aug. 8 -- Reese Witherspoon's father is recovering after he was rushed to hospital following a fall.

The Legally Blonde star has shared that her dad, John Witherspoon, 84 - a retired otolaryngologist and former US Army lieutenant colonel who served during the Vietnam War - is doing well despite his injuries.

She posted on Instagram Stories: "Earlier today, several outlets reported that my dad was taken to the hospital after a fall. I want to let everyone know that he is fine now. He is being taken care of by wonderful doctors and nurses.

"Thank you to everyone who reached out. It means the world to our family."
