United Kingdom, July 17 -- Post Malone has signalled a return to the hip-hop sound that launched his career.

Teasing new music on social media while telling fans he has not forgotten the era of "Stoney", the musician, 31, shared a short video of himself performing an unreleased track, fuelling speculation his next project will revisit the style which made him one of the defining artists of the late 2010s after a successful move into country music.

Post, whose real name is Austin Post, posted the clip on social media showing himself singing along to the new song while smoking a cigarette and drinking a beer.
