United Kingdom, April 13 -- Percy Jackson star Walker Scobell is skipping his high school prom because death threats have been sent to his potential dates.

The 17-year-old actor - who stars in Disney Plus series Percy Jackson and the Olympians - has revealed he's decided not to attend the milestone event because so many teenage girls who live in his area have been targeted by nasty messages from over-zealous fans.

In a post on Instagram, he wrote: "Just to let everyone know, I will not be attending prom. Please stop sending death threats to EVERY teenage girl who could remotely be associated with me based on their proximity to where I live.

"It's not fair to them or their families. Maybe also just stop sending death threats in general....
