United Kingdom, July 31 -- New Girl creator Liz Meriwether has weighed in on the possibility of rebooting the beloved TV show, admitting it "would be exciting" to see it return.

The comedy series ran from 2012 to 2018, and starred Zooey Deschanel in the lead role as teacher Jessica Day.

Despite the fact it came to an end eight years ago, New Girl remains a favourite among TV viewers and is amounting new fans on a daily basis - with the continued popularity sparking rumours that a reboot could be on the horizon.

Liz was asked about the speculation during an interview on the Bingeworthy podcast, to which she replied: "It would be exciting, but I really would have to have my head around why we were doing it.

"There are just moments where...
