United Kingdom, July 23 -- Tommy Lee and Nikki Sixx injected whiskey when they ran out of heroin.

The Motley Crue rockers have recalled doing a "s*** load" of the drug at the height of the band's success in the 1980s but during one early-morning binge, they used up their entire stash of the opiate, prompting them to look for a new high.

Speaking to Dax Shepard on his Armchair Expert podcast, Tommy recalled: "We're like, 'F***, dude. What are we going to do?'"

The pair then caught sight of a bottle of Jack Daniels.

Tommy continued: "[We] filled up the cap with Jack and then pulled a couple syringes, and were shooting Jack Daniel's.
