United Kingdom, Feb. 27 -- Meredith Monroe has paid tribute to her late Dawson's Creek co-star James Van Der Beek.

Saying his "legacy is your light" as a fundraising page established for his family surpasses $2.7 million, the actress, 56, who played Andie McPhee on the teen drama from 1998 to 2003, and has now shared a message on Instagram two weeks after James' death from cancer.

The 48-year-old is survived by his wife Kimberly and their six children, and in her post, Meredith said she had struggled to find the right words but had been unable to stop thinking about James and his family.
