United Kingdom, July 17 -- Lewis Hamilton has given his followers an inside look into his recent holiday with girlfriend Kim Kardashian, and he urged fans to "hold your people close".

The 41-year-old Formula 1 driver's emotional message comes after Kim's grandmother Mary Jo "MJ" Shannon - the mother of Kim's mum Kris Jenner - passed away aged 91.

Following the tragic news, Lewis took to Instagram to share several snaps with Kim and her family on their lakeside getaway, and he wrote: "hold your people close [people hugging emoji]"

Among the pictures of the couple's Idaho vacation was one of Lewis and Kim holding hands and looking lovingly into each other's eyes.
