United Kingdom, Sept. 16 -- Lena Dunham is a first-time mother, after welcoming her first child via surrogate.

The 40-year-old star revealed the happy news in an op ed for Vogue magazine, as she said that she and husband Luis Felber are proud parents of a baby girl.

As well as sharing a picture of herself and Luis with their newborn, Lena revealed her first words to her daughter were: "Hello... I'm your mama. You. you look nothing like I thought you would, but exactly right. We've been waiting for you, do you know that? It was so nice of you to come."

The baby's arrival comes after Lena underwent a hysterectomy in 2017, aged 31, in her battle against endometriosis.

She said previously of the operation: "It was a grief but it was also ...
