John Legend lands role portraying Harry Belafonte in new Graceland biopic
United Kingdom, July 30 -- John Legend is set to portray civil rights icon Harry Belafonte in The Road Home.
The EGOT-winning singer, songwriter and actor, 47, has joined the cast of the Bill Condon-directed film, which is currently shooting in South Africa, and will explore the lives of the musicians and activists whose influence shaped Paul Simon's landmark 1986 album Graceland.
The film is also set to examine the cultural and political backdrop to the creation of Graceland, the acclaimed album Paul recorded with South African musicians during apartheid.
It also stars Johnny Flynn as Paul, Thabo Rametsi as jazz trumpeter Hugh Masekela, Cynthia Erivo as singer and activist Miriam Makeba and Guy Pearce as Archbishop Trevor Huddleston....
