United Kingdom, April 1 -- Jenny McCarthy was glad to see her ex-boyfriend Jim Carrey looking "really happy" during a rare public appearance in France.

The Mask star has stepped away from Hollywood in recent years but he returned to the spotlight in February to pick up a special honour at the Cesar Awards in Paris and now his former girlfriend Jenny - who dated the actor for five years before they split in 2010 - has revealed she was thrilled to see her ex-partner doing well.

She told PEOPLE: "He looked very happy at that award show. And I was happy for him. That's the first thing I noticed. I said: 'Oh wow, Jim looks really happy'.
