United Kingdom, Jan. 6 -- Gwyneth Paltrow has claimed she lost a movie role after declaring she and Chris Martin were "consciously uncoupling".

The former couple sparked discussion when they used the unusual phrase to announced they had split after a decade of marriage in 2014, and the 53-year-old star has now revealed the ridicule prompted film bosses to distance themselves from her.

Speaking on Amy Poehler's Good Hang podcast, she said: "I was meant to do a movie and it was right after the conscious uncoupling thing with Chris. The distributor was like, this might be too hot to touch.

"That was great because I was getting a divorce and then I got fired, that was so awesome."
