United Kingdom, July 26 -- Joel Edgerton pretended to be Sam Worthington after an emotional fan mistook the actor for the latter during a meet-and-greet.

The 52-year-old star signed an autograph for the supporter before playing along with the mix-up and accepting praise for 49-year-old entertainer Sam's role as Jake Sully in Avatar.

Joel recalled to Entertainment Weekly: "One time I had a young lady run up to me and say, 'Oh my God, Oh my God, can I get your autograph?' And she was on the verge of tears. And I was like, 'Wow, I'm really having an effect over this woman.'"

But the Warrior actor soon realised that she had got emotional because of believing he was Sam.
