United Kingdom, Oct. 2 -- Chris Pratt was "kind of fat" before he joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

The 47-year-old actor played Star-Lord in the Guardians of the Galaxy film franchise, and Chris has thanked Kevin Feige, the President of Marvel Studios, for showing so much faith in him.

Chris told The Hollywood Reporter: "It took someone with real vision to look at me and say, 'Yeah, that's a guy who could guard the galaxy.' Because at that point, if anyone knew me, I was Andy Dwyer on Parks and Recreation; I was funny, sure, but I was kind of fat.

"Nobody was thinking, 'Now there's an action star who can carry a big-budget sci-fi film franchise.'"

Chris suggested that Kevin showed more faith in him than he showed in himself...
