United Kingdom, Aug. 21 -- Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto has revealed that his vision for the franchise would be significantly darker and more grounded if he were still involved with creating new games.

The developer, who helped establish Microsoft's iconic sci-fi shooter series, shared his thoughts on social media after being asked what direction he would take Halo in today.

Lehto said he would introduce a "darker" tone with a stronger military focus, although he admitted that approach may not be welcomed by the entire Halo community.

He wrote on X: "I would probably bench much of the current lore - respect it, but build a new future narrative for both the old and new audiences which makes much more sense."
