Kenya, Aug. 11 -- People in Nairobi were shocked, when a man, who is believed to be involved in a big gold scam, accidentally revealed himself. He did this by sharing messages from WhatsApp that showed his wrongdoings. This man also has a political job in one of the city's areas. He sent these private messages to his political friends after a night of drinking too much.
The messages talked about fake gold deals, promised shipments of gold that didn't exist, and conversations with clients who were tricked and lost a lot of money. By Wednesday morning, pictures of these messages spread quickly on social media, causing anger and getting the attention of investigators.
People said that this politician, who is known for living a flashy lifestyle, had been suspected for a long time of running a trick that targeted rich business people and foreign investors. One of the victims, who did not want to give their name, told reporters that they lost more than KSh 8 million in a deal that turned out to be a scam. To read more click here.
