Kenya, Sept. 10 -- Some folks seem to glide through life with luck on their side, while others, like me, feel like we're wrestling the universe from day one. For years, I carried a heavy cloud of bad luck, wondering if I'd been overlooked by fate. It started with school. While my classmates breezed through exams, I could barely scrape a passing grade. I'd burn the midnight oil, pray, and study hard, but when test day came, my mind would blank out.

Teachers labelled me lazy, and my parents sighed, "Why can't you be like your siblings?" Shame clung to me like a shadow, making me feel cursed to flop. Love was no kinder. I hoped a relationship might bring some joy, but every one ended in heartbreak. One guy used me and then married someone else. Another flat-out called me "bad luck". Those words stung worse than anything. I'd lie awake at night, tears falling, asking, "Why me? Why was I born unlucky?" Money? That was another struggle.
