
Kenya, Aug. 11 -- I still remember that day as if it happened just this morning. The sun was shining brightly, the birds were singing happily, and in my heart, I felt like the luckiest man in the world. I had just finished paying the dowry for the woman I love, Achieng'. We were only a few months away from our wedding, which everyone in the village was excited about. She had even picked her wedding dress, a beautiful white gown that made her eyes shine when she tried it on.
But I didn't know. that the same dress would be the one she wore inside her coffin. At first, her problems seemed small. She started saying she had headaches and felt tired. I thought it was just the stress of planning the wedding. But then, her skin looked very pale, she lost a lot of weight, and her happy laughter turned into soft whispers.
