CANBERRA, ACT, Oct. 3 -- Australian Federal Police issued the following media release:

A Sydney man has been sentenced to a 12-month Community Correction Order at Parramatta Local Court for sending offensive emails to a Commonwealth official.

The AFP's National Security Investigations (NSI) team began an investigation in May, 2026, after a series of abusive emails were sent to a Commonwealth official between February and May, 2026.

The man, 43, was arrested at a Wentworthville home on 23 June, 2026, and later pled guilty to using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence, contrary to section 474.1(1) of the Criminal Code (Cth).
