CANBERRA, ACT, Sept. 18 -- Australian Federal Police issued the following media release:
An Israeli national was sentenced yesterday (17 September, 2026) by the NSW District Court for dealing with more than $50 million of criminal proceeds linked to an online investment scam which defrauded more than 1000 victims.
The 56 year old from Sydney was sentenced to 14years' imprisonment, with a non-parole period of nineyears.
The sentence is one of the first significant prosecutions under Australia's proceeds of general crime money laundering provisions, introduced through the 2021Economic Disruption Act reforms.
