An Iranian national appeared before Parramatta Local Court today (9 August, 2025) charged with recklessly wounding a man at Villawood Immigration Detention Centre.
Police allege the man, 53, used an improvised weapon to wound a second man, 25, at the facility on 10 July, 2025.
The NSW Police Force started an investigation in July after the 25-year-old man was allegedly stabbed in the calf, thigh and wrist in his room at the facility.
Following initial inquiries and interviews, NSW Police passed the investigation to the AFP on 14 July.
