Women cross 50% mark in four key industries, but C-suite representation lags: Report
New Delhi, Sept. 20 -- By June 2026, women accounted for more than half of the workforce in four industries, according to the World Economic Forum's Global Gender Gap Report 2026.
The report noted that women made up 59.9 per cent of the workforce in Healthcare and Care Services, 54.2 per cent in Education, 51.7 per cent in Consumer Services, and 50.6 per cent in Government and Public Sector.
Conversely, women made up around one-quarter of workers in Oil, Gas and Mining at 25.2 per cent, and Infrastructure at 23.6 per cent.
The report showed that overall workforce participation for women rose from 39.9 per cent in 2015 to 42.0 per cent in 2025 across the covered economies, before edging down to 41.8 per cent by June 2026.
