Vitamin D3 more effective than Vitamin D2 in maintaining muscle, heart health: ICMR-NIN study
Hyderabad, Sept. 1 -- Vitamin D3 was found more effective than Vitamin D2 in maintaining and restoring skeletal muscle and heart function in male rats, according to a study by researchers at the ICMR-National Institute of Nutrition (ICMR-NIN), Hyderabad.
The study, titled "Dietary Vitamin D2 Is Less Potent Than Vitamin D3 at Maintaining or Restoring Structure and Metabolism of Skeletal Muscle and Heart in Male Rats", was published in Molecular Nutrition & Food Research.
Researchers compared the effects of Vitamin D2 and Vitamin D3 on skeletal muscle and cardiac parameters in rats during both maintenance and recovery from vitamin D deficiency.
