Bhagalpur, Sept. 23 -- The Vikramshila Setu in Bihar's Bhagalpur will remain closed for three months from October 1 for the construction of a permanent steel truss bridge, Road Construction Department Minister Engineer Kumar Shailendra said on Wednesday.

The minister said the decision to close the bridge was taken by the government and was earlier announced by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, but the implementation was delayed due to flood-related conditions.

"The government has made its decision; CM Samrat Choudhary had decided on this earlier, but flood-related conditions necessitated postponing the date," Shailendra told reporters.
