Mumbai, Oct. 20 -- US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Tuesday said Washington will discuss potential hurdles and opportunities with Reliance Industries regarding Venezuelan oil, highlighting the company's ability to refine heavy crude as the United States looks to strengthen energy cooperation with India.

Speaking to reporters after arriving in Mumbai, Rubio said the US had previously held discussions with Reliance on opportunities in Venezuela and would examine the challenges involved during his upcoming visit to the company's Jamnagar refinery in Gujarat.

"We've talked to them about it in the past. We're gonna go see what the hold-up is and what opportunities exist," Rubio said.
