Washington, May 1 -- House Select Committee on China Chairman John Moolenaar (R-MI) and House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Andrew R. Garbarino (R-NY) have announced a joint investigation into the national security and cybersecurity threats linked to the expanding use of Chinese-developed artificial intelligence models.

These include low-cost, open-weight and API-accessible systems created by Chinese firms such as DeepSeek, Alibaba, Moonshot AI and MiniMax, according to a press release issued by the Select Committee on the CCP (SCCCP).
