Hanamkonda, April 3 -- A gruesome incident has shaken Telangana's Hanamkonda, after a man, identified as Azharuddin, allegedly killed his pregnant wife and two daughters by throwing them into a swimming pool, officials said.

Azharuddin, who had a love marriage, was allegedly upset that the unborn child was a girl, according to Hanamkonda police.

The accused, Azharuddin, had earlier tried to abort the pregnancy, but his wife opposed it. In retaliation, he allegedly planned the brutal act, in which he took his family to a swimming pool and threw them into the water.

The police have registered a case, and special teams are searching for Azharuddin.
