New Delhi, Aug. 20 -- Former Tehelka magazine editor Tarun Tejpal has approached the Supreme Court against his conviction and sentence of ten years in a rape case involving a junior colleague.

The Goa bench of the Bombay High Court on August 6 convicted Tejpal and sentenced him to 10 years in prison for raping a former colleague, overturning his 2021 acquittal in a decade-old case.

Tejpal has challenged the High Court order.

Goa government has also moved the Supreme Court seeking enhancement of the sentence for Tejpal in the case.

The State has sought enhancement of the 10-year rigorous imprisonment. It said the punishment is inadequate and sought life imprisonment for the former editor.
