New Delhi, April 28 -- Former Aam Aadmi Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal on Tuesday formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva.

Speaking to reporters, Maliwal said that she has not taken the step because of any compulsion but was inspired by the works of the party. While recalling her experience of working as chief of Delhi Commission for Women and praised the support she received from the BJP.
