New Delhi, Aug. 31 -- With an agreement signed on the sharing of Sone River water in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the national capital, resolving a 25-year-long-awaited water dispute in eastern India, Bihar's eight districts and Jharkhand's two key districts, among other regions in these states, will now have access to irrigation and drinking water.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) would ensure the availability of adequate water for drinking and irrigation to a large population across the districts of Bhojpur, Buxar, Rohtas, Kaimur, Aurangabad, Arwal, Gaya, and Patna in Bihar. Moreover, water would become available for irrigation and drinking purposes in the Palamu, Garhwa, and other regions of Jharkhand.
