Chandigarh, Oct. 3 -- Farmer unions under the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha observed the anniversary of the 2021 Lakhimpur Kheri incident on Saturday with a candle march to pay homage to the victims.

Reflecting on the tragedy, a participant said, "We are here to pay tribute to those martyrs-among them were young boys, someone's only son. You came out upon our call; we honour your memory, and we will continue to demand justice."

Farmers have been demanding legal accountability, justice for those who died in the incident, and the fulfilment of assurances previously made by the authorities regarding the case.
