Doha, June 22 -- A technical malfunction during operations at a factory in Qatar's Ras Laffan Industrial City triggered an internal explosion and fire, leaving 54 injured and prompting an ongoing search-and-rescue operation for 18 missing persons, the Qatar's Interior Ministry said on Monday.

According to the Interior Ministry, the Qatar International Search and Rescue Group of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), working alongside Civil Defence teams, is continuing search operations for the missing persons.
