Chandigarh, Aug. 22 -- Gurpreet Kaur, wife of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, on Saturday sent a legal notice to Congress leader Sukhpal Khaira's brother-in-law, former Punjab judge Justice Ranjit Singh, after the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) took cognisance of allegations that Kaur sought Rs 5 crore to suppress a rape case.

According to an official communication from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Ranjit Singh has been asked to respond to the legal notice within 24 hours of its receipt.

The notice stipulates that if he fails to furnish a response within the mandated 24-hour deadline, he will face legal proceedings and will have to appear before a court of law.
