Amritsar, July 18 -- In a breakthrough against cross-border smuggling networks, the Amritsar City Police busted an international drug and arms syndicate with the arrest of four key accused, recovering over 5.5 kilograms of heroin and two highly sophisticated pistols near the international border.

The operation, which was carried out based on precise intelligence inputs, intercepted a ring responsible for receiving and distributing contraband dropped across the border.

Speaking to ANI, Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar stated that the arrested individuals used their strategic residential proximity to the international border to coordinate illicit logistics.
