New Delhi, April 10 -- The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Friday that Pranay Verma, who is currently serving as India's High Commissioner to Bangladesh, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to Belgium and the European Union.

Sharing the details in an official statement, the MEA said, "Pranay Verma (IFS: 1994), presently High Commissioner of India to the People's Republic of Bangladesh, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Belgium and the European Union."

He is expected to take up the assignment shortly.
