Gandhinagar, Sept. 25 -- A biotechnology-backed research programme on natural farming has reported more than double the turmeric yield under certain natural farming treatments compared with conventional chemical farming in a field study conducted at Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University (SDAU) in Gujarat.

The findings were published in BMC Plant Biology in a study titled "Metagenomic insights reveal the impact of natural farming on soil nutrients, enzyme activities, microbial communities, and yield in turmeric cultivation." The research compared nine natural farming treatments with a conventional farming system at SDAU in Banaskantha district.
