Nadia, Aug. 19 -- A local court in Nadia has issued an arrest warrant against Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra for alleged hate speech.

Shirshendu Das, Assistant Public Prosecutor, said summons were issued thrice to the MP but she did not appear before the court.

"An arrest warrant was issued today. On June 12, the MP made objectionable statements against Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the youth, and soldiers of India. This was protested against by a large number of women. On 17th June, a plea was filed before Krishnanagar CJM District and Sessions Court. Summons was issued to the MP thrice. But she did not appear before the Court. June 18 was the last day for her to appear before the Court," he said.
