Bhopal, July 7 -- In a heartwarming gesture that has drawn widespread appreciation, a man in Madhya Pradesh's capital Bhopal arranged the remarriage of his widowed daughter-in-law and performed her 'Kanyadaan'.

The wedding ceremony was held at a resort in the Kulukhedi area of Bhopal on Monday. The father-in-law took on the role traditionally performed by a bride's parents and completed the marriage rituals himself.

According to the family, the woman's husband had passed away some time ago after battling cancer. Following his son's death, the man said the family decided to treat their daughter-in-law as their own daughter and help her begin a new life.
