Shillong, Sept. 25 -- The Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee on Thursday joined the nationwide protest called by the Congress against the Election Commission of India, with MPCC president Vincent H Pala accusing the Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar of "manipulating the system" and undermining public trust in the electoral process.

Speaking to reporters during the protest, Pala cited an Indian Express investigative report which claimed that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had raised objections at least 14 times over 10 months concerning decisions and procedures related to electoral rolls and database access.
