Chennai, Sept. 10 -- The Madras High Court dismissed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking directions to the Election Commission of India (ECI) to clarify allegations of large-scale voter list manipulation in the 2024 General Elections.

The Court on Tuesday observed that the plea was "completely misconceived," lacking substantive evidence, and founded solely on political claims and counterclaims. It said the petition was vague, devoid of material particulars, and could not be a ground to compel the Election Commission to issue clarifications.

Dismissing the petition, the Court imposed costs of Rs.1,00,000 on the petitioner, payable to the Tamil Nadu State Legal Services Authority. It clarified, however, that it had not expressed an...
