New Delhi, June 24 -- Argentina's FIFA World Cup-winning icon Lionel Messi turned 39 on Wednesday, still going strong in football at the highest level at the ongoing edition of FIFA World Cup 2026 and for Inter Miami in the Major League Soccer (MLS).

So far in the tournament, Messi has registered a total of five goals, which has helped him go past Germany's Miroslav Klose in FIFA WC's all-time goal-scoring list. This also includes his first-ever FIFA WC hat-trick that he scored against Algeria in his side's campaign opener. So far, Messi has managed 916 goals in his professional football career for clubs like Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Miami and his nation, Argentina.
