Thiruvananthapuram, April 29 -- The Keralam Police have registered a case against approximately 50 identifiable protesters for allegedly intercepting and stopping a young woman travelling with her infant in Adoor, Pathanamthitta, during a state-wide protest on Tuesday.

The incident occurred as activists from various Dalit organisations staged demonstrations across the district. The protesters were demanding justice for Nithin Raj, a youth who recently died under suspicious circumstances in Kannur.

Earlier on Tuesday, a statewide shutdown called by various Dalit organisations over the death of BDS student Nithin Raj at Ancharakandi Dental College led to widespread protests and disruptions across several parts of Keralam.
