Haldwani 'purification' row: Congress MPs demand Zero FIR, plan protest at Jantar Mantar
New Delhi, Sept. 8 -- Several Congress MPs, including Mallu Ravi and Vamsi Krishna Gaddam, on Tuesday reached Parliament Street Police Station to demand registration of an FIR over the 'purification' ritual conducted at Haldwani's Ramlila Maidan following Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's rally.
The MPs alleged that the incident was an attack on the Dalit community and said they would seek action against those responsible. They also demanded a Zero FIR and announced plans for a protest at Jantar Mantar.
Speaking to ANI, Gaddam alleged that the incident represented a broader attack on the Dalit community and linked it to the ideological position of the BJP.
